Faust -- Part 1

With Sentences from the Book
This quiz presents a word in a sentence with multiple choice meanings of the word. That helps students get comfortable with the format of vocabulary questions on ACT
®* & SAT ®* tests.
The format also corresponds with how words are encountered when reading. We see a word in context and try to understand the meaning.
Top-ranked words are chosen primarily based on how often they appear in the book, and whether they are considered generally useful academic words appropriate for review.
Words may also be chosen because they are important for understanding the book or because they are used in an especially memorable passage.
Note that a post-reading vocabulary quiz also acts as a review of the story because words and the sentences using them, are presented in book order.
Students reading this book, should be somewhat familiar with most the top-ranked words chosen for the quiz. The quiz acts to reinforce words students don't know well while introducing a handful of new words.
Avid readers might be better served by the extra credit quiz.
