He used the term geosynchronous orbit; though it would have been technically accurate to say geostationary orbit.
  technically:  an orbit that takes one day to complete (so that a satellite can be found in the same spot in the sky at the same time each day)

commonly:  the orbit of a satellite that always remains above the same point on the earth (though the correct technical term for such an orbit is geostationary)
