Word Mastery:  Until the kick, the penalized team must stay a set distance from the ball (usually 10 yards). Free kicks can be direct or indirect depending upon the nature of the infraction.

The kicker can attempt to send a direct kick directly to the goal, but an indirect kick must be touched by a second player before it can enter the goal.
