Popular because it has fewer side effects than most competing medications, but is not as effective as NSAIDs for inflammatory disorders like arthritis or sprains.

Overdoses can be fatal and small increases in dosage can be damaging. Daily use and regular use amongst heavy drinkers can lead to liver damage.
