Strongly Associated with:   James Joyce
Notes:
Some argue it is they best English-language novel of the 20th century; though others insist that "the emperor has no clothes", that pages without punctuation are needlessly difficult to read, and that parts of the book are obscene or distasteful.

The title is based on the Roman name for Odysseus, the hero of Homer’s Odyssey.  In some respects the book parallels Ulysses’ nineteen years of wandering in The Odyssey; though the casual reader could easily miss the connection.

"Ulysses" is also the name of a famous poem written by Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1833).
