Notes:
The lack of food and other supplies during the winter of 1778 is commonly thought of as the most desperate time for George Washington and the Continental Army. Today major portions of their camp site are part of Valley Forge National Historical Park, along the Schuylkill River in southeastern Pennsylvania.
