Concept Mastery:  Land above the Artic Circle is described as the arctic or arctic zone.  Land between the Arctic Circle and the Tropic of Cancer is called the northern temperate zone.

From the circle, the number of twenty- four-hour periods of continuous day or of continuous night increases northward from one day to about six months each at the North Pole.

By definition, variations in the earth’s tilt change the exact location of the Arctic Circle, but it is generally thought of as 6634 N or perhaps 66.5 N.
