Note that OIBDA is an acronym (a word formed from the initial letters of a series of words).  OIBDA is not a defined measure according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and thus can be calculated differently by different companies.

OIBDA is sometimes preferred to the more common EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) because it excludes non-operating income (income not expected to be repeated in future years).
