Strongly Associated with:   general relativity
Notes:
The theory was called special because it is a special case where the effects of gravity can be ignored. It replaced Newtonian notions of space and time and incorporated electromagnetism as represented by Maxwell’s equations.

It is based on the assumptions that the speed of light (in a vacuum) is fixed and that the laws of science should be the same for all observers, no matter how they are moving, in the absence of gravitational phenomena. Theorized for the first time that mass and energy are equivalent, and that mass, length, and time change with velocity.
