mitochondrial mitochondria mitochondrion
Notes:
Note that "mitochondrion" is the singular form of "mitochondria". "Mitochondrial" is typically used in the phrase "mitochondrial DNA" (DNA outside of the cell nucleus that is inherited from the mother).

Mitochondria are inherited only from the mother, as part of the egg cell. The sperm’s mitochondria reside in its tail and are left behind at fertilization.
