capital — as in:  invested capital

She worked hard to raise capital to start their new company.
material wealth — especially assets available for use in the production of further assets

Capital has many other senses including an uppercase letter (such as B in contrast to b); and a city from which a nation is governed. It is often confused with "capitol" ("ol" instead of "al")  which is the building (or buildings) from which a nation is governed. See a comprehensive dictionary for other senses of capital.
