Multiple Meanings
pyrotechnics

The band’s pyrotechnics started a fire.
plural:  fireworks; or the craft of creating and displaying them

singular:  related to fireworks

More rarely, pyrotechnics can reference things similar to fireworks such as types of flares that might be used by the military to light an area or send a signal.  Even more rarely, pyrotechnics can reference a spectacular performance — as in "vocal pyrotechnics" describing brilliant singing.
