immerse — as in:  immersed in her book

She immersed herself in her studies.
to get very interested or completely involved
immerse — as in:  immersed in a tub of water

It was a slow leak, but we could see bubbles coming out of the tire when we immersed it in a tank of water.
to submerge in a liquid

(submerge means:  to put something into a liquid so that it is completely covered by the liquid)
