Vocabulary is crucial to academic and vocational success. Verbal Workout leverages natural vocabulary development by reinforcing useful words encountered during high school reading.

Words are ranked in over 500 books that are commonly read in high school. The more times a word is used in the book, the more highly it is ranked. The more frequently the word is seen on SAT® or ACT® tests, the more highly it is ranked. An academic word that is used more commonly is ranked more highly than one that is seldom encountered.

Teachers can reinforce natural vocabulary growth with computer-corrected, 15-minute assignments that target a book's most highly ranked words. Because assignments take only about 15 minutes and are corrected by computer, they do not detract from other class objectives.
